Rosanna Davison shares 'valuable' parenting lesson after cutting holiday short (2024)

Rosanna Davison has shared the 'valuable' parenting lesson she's come to learn over the years after having to cut short her family holiday.

The mum-of-three and her husband Wes Quirke had taken their children, twins Oscar and Hugo, three, and daughter Sophia, four, to Wicklow for a few days before the little ones go back to school.

However, they had to return home from the staycation earlier than planned after Hugo's chesty cough got worse and they decided he needed to see a doctor.

Sharing how the 'summer hols have flown by', Rosanna said: 'Our last little family staycation of the summer before the twins start their second year of preschool next week and Sophia starts junior infants the following week.'

Explaining that they were booked in for a two-night stay at Tulfarris Hotel, Rosanna continued: 'But [we] had to cut the stay short to return home yesterday morning because Hugo has a chesty cough that was getting worse and we decided it was best to bring him to the doctor.'

She added: 'Poor little thing was awake a lot in the night coughing. Doctor thinks it’s a viral infection and at least he’s feeling a bit better today.'

Finishing off with some sage advice every parent can relate to, the former Miss Ireland wrote: ‘Long story short: One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned about parenting is to keep plans flexible because anything can happen!’

Thanking her followers for checking in on little Hugo, Rosanna remarked that lots of parents were letting her know that there have been various temperatures and bugs going around.

Saying that Hugo is ‘doing much better’, the mum-of-three added that they were up with him for a few hours the night before but thankfully he managed to have a bit of a sleep in that morning.
