Android users can now get a powerful, personalized mobile car shopping experience thanks to an all-new app from AutoTrader.com. Available immediately for free download on the Android marketplace, the AutoTrader.com app provides car shoppers with a host of tools designed to make it easier to find the right car, locate a dealer and even integrate social media into car shopping.
Not surprisingly, one of the app’s main features gives Android users the ability to search for new, used and certified cars near them. But the app takes searching for cars a step further by allowing car shoppers to scan VIN barcodes – usually located inside a car’s driver’s door or at the base of its windshield – to look for similar cars nearby.
In addition to making it easier to find the right car, the app also simplifies the process of locating the right dealer. According to AutoTrader.com, the app lets shoppers map local dealers to view dealer services and amenities, and even offers a ‘Keyword Search’ function that allows users to find vehicles and specific dealer services nearby. Of course, the app can also be used to contact dealers and private sellers about cars for sale.
“More than a million unique visitors access the AutoTrader.com mobile site each month, and we expect that number to continue increasing as more and more consumers turn to their mobile devices during the car shopping process,” said Chip Perry, AutoTrader.com’s president and chief executive. “By creating a custom app for leading devices like Android, we’re able to create a more seamless experience that enables shoppers to easily move between their computers and mobile devices as they search for their next car.”
The AutoTrader.com Android app also includes a built-in sharing feature, making it easy for shoppers to post vehicle listings to their Facebook profiles and receive Feedback from friends and family. Other features include giving shoppers the ability to create free AutoTrader.com accounts to save their favorite searches and cars, and letting shoppers revisit recently viewed cars and searches.
